The origins of some myths are…questionable at best. Today we explore the mythology of the Minotaur originating from Greek mythology; starting with King Minos’s not completing his end of the deal with Poseidon, leading to the curse of the Minotaur. Other key figures, including Pasiphaë and Daedalus, who are interesting figures all on their own.

The Minotaur’s story reveals a critique of how society defines monsters. Born from the hubris of King Minos and Poseidon’s anger, the Minotaur represents those unwittingly victimized by others’ actions. Theseus, often perceived as a hero, embodies moral ambiguity as he ultimately kills the creature, raising questions about true monstrosity in this myth.
