Holy Mother- (Little Mermaid theory part 3/3)

A thousand greetings, my sea-soned explorers!

Ready to dive into the conclusion of our deep-sea adventure?
Disney’s Greek mythology blunders have been quite the splash – and no, we’re not touching Hercules’ family drama (seriously, Zeus and Hera need couples therapy!). We’re talking about their fishy claim that seven unique sisters sprang from the same mer-mama.
That lie sank faster than the Titanic!
Grab your scuba gear, because we’re about to ride the final wave of this underwater saga! It’s time to wash away the murk and myths to reveal the secrets hidden beneath the surface.

First, let’s have a recap!

In Part One, we explored Triton’s murky lineage, questioning whether his fin-tastic daughters truly shared the same aquatic mama. The idea floated up that the Nereids, those fifty sea-nymph daughters of the old sea man, Nereus, might have shared a bit of their aquatic magic, leading to Triton’s diverse daughters.
In Part Two, we rode the wave of Disney’s transformation from cartoon to live-action spectacle, witnessing the sea-change in Triton’s daughters. Each mermaid sister underwent a sea of changes in appearance, thanks to Disney’s cultural makeovers and supposed upgrades.
For this final chapter, your dedicated Researcher meticulously combed through the foam to narrow down the sea-nymph daughters from fifty to seven for this adventure.

Hold onto your tridents, my daring readers…

Get ready to dive into the salty depths, because I had to be saltier than the dead sea to unearth the sea-crets of the elusive Nereids. Details on these sea nymphs are scarcer than a mermaid’s tears – even Wikipedia’s offerings are about as enlightening as a fish out of water. But fear not, my fellow ocean explorers, for I’ve delved into the depths of creativity to bring you the pearls of wisdom hidden within the waves. Now, let’s tackle the big question: What if the Seven Seas themselves were more than just bodies of water? What if they were an extension of the Nereids’ influence, each sister a manifestation of the sea’s diverse elements? Could these Nereids be the true mamas of Triton’s daughters, making “keep it in the family” a whole new underwater saga?

Here it is my friends! The grand reveal, the moment where the underwater curtain of intrigue rises to unveil the Nereid Mothers, the matriar-chitects of Triton’s daughters!

Mala (Chaine Sea)
Ah, the Chaine Sea, a picturesque canvas adorned with islands, shallows, and islets, akin to a symphony of nature’s finest brushstrokes. Here, we encounter Nesaea, the Mistress of the Islands, a Nereid whose essence embodies the very spirit of archipelagos. Like a guardian angel of the sea’s diverse and often isolated landforms, Nesaea’s influence ripples through Mala, her living counterpart. With the grace and independence of a true sea nymph, Mala navigates the waves, echoing the vibrant life found within Nesaea’s realm.

Indira (Brinedive Sea)
The Brinedive Sea is a realm of paradise where gentle waves caress sun-kissed shores, creating a haven where sunlight dances on the water’s surface. Here lies the domain of Halimede, the salty sorceress who embodies the very saltwater itself. Halimede’s influence is the brine that courses through the sea’s veins, finds its living embodiment in none other than Indira, the radiant sovereign of the Brinedive Sea. Indira resonates with the sun-kissed glow and the gentle warmth of her underwater paradise, further illuminating the intricate tapestry of Triton’s daughters and their divine origins.

Caspia (Apneic Sea)
Dive into the waters of the Apneic Sea, where the murky embrace of brackish waters conceals secrets as profound as the ocean’s abyss. Here is where tranquility reigns supreme under the gentle guidance of Galene, the serene goddess who commands the “calm” seas. Within this aquatic realm resides Caspia, the sovereign daughter born of the Apneic Sea. As a living testament to Galene’s serene demeanor and the brackish allure of her domain, Caspia embodies a fusion of tranquil calmness and the occasional icy touch that whispers of hidden mysteries.

Tamika (Fracus Sea)
Now, direct your attention to the dazzling depths of the Fracus Sea, where the waters shimmer with a kaleidoscope of life and vitality. Amidst this aquatic symphony, we encounter Amphinome, a beacon of abundance and nourishment. who ensures that life flourishes happily in the sunlit waters of her realm. Within this vibrant underwater tapestry Tamika, born of the Fracus Sea, emerges as a testament to Amphinome’s generosity and vitality. Tamika embodies the essence of her Nereid counterpart, adding another layer of depth to the intricate lineage of Triton’s daughters.

Karina (Saithe Sea)
Prepare to brave the icy embrace of the Saithe Sea, where every wave is cloaked in a frosty allure that captivates the soul. Here, amidst this frozen expanse, Galateia reigns as the enchanting deity of “the milky white” sea-foam. As the sovereign of the Saithe Sea, Karina mirrors the frosty elegance bestowed upon her by her true mother. Through Galateia’s influence, Karina embodies the essence of frozen beauty that blankets the Saithe Sea, creating a breathtaking spectacle that echoes her true lineage.

Perla (Piton Sea)
In the temperate depths of the Piton Sea, where the waters unfold in a deep and tranquil embrace, is the calming presence of Neso, whose influence brings the significance and diversity of all maritime features. As the sovereign of the Piton Sea, Perla mirrors the temperate and profound nature bestowed upon her. The very essence of the Piton Sea finds its reflection in Perla’s aquatic domain, encapsulating the depth and tranquility of her Nereid lineage, thus furthering my stance on the connections between Triton’s daughters and their legendary maternal figures.

Ariel (Carinae Sea)
Immerse yourself in the warm embrace of the Carinae Sea, where Ariel’s spirited and fiery personality finds its perfect match. As we dive into the depths of Ariel’s origin story, we uncover the remarkable revelation that her true mother is none other than Thetis, a significant figure in Greek mythology known for her role in the “generation” or spawning of fish, adding a whole new layer of depth to the aquatic drama surrounding Triton’s daughters. Thetis, Ariel’s Nereid Mother, bestows upon her daughter the generational prowess and leadership associated with the spawning of fish, infusing Ariel’s character with a mythic undertone that transcends the realms of Disney.

But don’t hold your breath, here’s the jaw-dropping twist…

Thetis isn’t just any sea nymph; she’s the mother of Achilles himself.

Ariel’s lineage carries the heroic legacy of Achilles himself!
Consider the captivating prospect that Achilles, the legendary hero of Greek mythology, could have drawn his first breaths near Ariel’s own watery domain, adding a mythic depth to the seas that cradle Triton’s daughters. Thetis, the nurturing Nereid, extends her influence over both her children: Ariel, the spirited mermaid, and Achilles, the valiant hero.
And yet, amidst the realms of speculation lies another intriguing possibility…
Could the grief of losing her heroic son have driven Thetis to shed her identity and retreat from the surface world, emerging anew as Queen Athena? Envision the transformation, a cloak of mourning and resilience, allowing her to navigate the underwater realms without the burden of her tragic past, as she reigns over the seas with a newfound sense of purpose and identity.
Well, what do you think of that?!

Keep swimming, my intrepid explorers, and never lose your sense of wonder!
